|Cameron Krone – Smith and Carmody|
MKGS were engaged by the ever growing Oscar Wylee eyewear brand to complete the fitout of their new store located within The Galleries on Pitt Street, which is now their showpiece location. Given its location and the fact this is within the iconic “The Galleries” the plans – Completed by Cameron Krone of Smith and Carmody – where designed in a way to bring in a sense of luxury and/or simplicity which best describes the Oscar Wylee branding.
The tenancy was constructed utalising numerous materials – such us:

- Once inside the floor is constructed from sealed FC sheeting, peach mirror wall panels and hidden door, brass tactiles and 24mm sealed/whitewashed birch ply wall panelling.

HOW DID OSCAR WYLEE COME TO BE?
The idea behind Oscar Wylee was simple: to provide high-quality, affordable eyeglasses with a vintage feel. We’re not doing anything too complicated – just cutting out the middleman – giving you the same glasses direct from the factory, minus the price tag.
And it’s going pretty well, we’ve just moved into a real office. It was fun being a garage brand but, as this is being written on a stairwell, it was definitely time for a change. Don’t worry, it’s good for you too, now we’ve got a permanent showroom so you can come and see our frames, and us, in person!
There’s another simple vision we have that you might not be aware of: for every pair of glasses you buy from us, we send another pair to someone less fortunate. That’s I CARE, and while we just hope you love our frames it’s nice to give others something to look forward to.
